Our Journey to Homeschool

At first I was turned off by the idea of homeschooling. I am only a high school graduate. I failed a few subjects and completely HATED school. Why would I want to teach my kids at home? Nothing drastic happened to make us snatch our child out of public school. We wasn’t scared or pressured by anyone He was a great student. He made good grades and generally liked going to school.

After reading many Christian blogs, and how they home schooled, I begin to research. I found out our states laws. Looked up some local groups and read LOTS & LOTS of stuff on the web. Derek was hesitant but was on board. After Canyon completed his 1st grade year we began the process to home school.

As time progressed we realized that we had many reasons to not want our children to be in public school. We wanted our children to be nurtured in the admonition of the Lord. Not by the state. We wanted our children to know WHO created this earth and all it’s magnificent contents. We began to covet our children’s time. We started to actually realize that WE are the ones accountable for our children before GOD.

Yes, there are many reasons why we would chose to home school I can’t name them all. For us it was simply the desire to raise a homegrown family with lots of love and guidance from our Heavenly Father.

Amen! Being 'only' a high school grad means nothing as this is not the measure. You are raising your children in the Lord. What the world defines as education is often the opposite of Him and His word. So you are cherishing the very blessings he has given you, by raising them and educating them in the Lord.

Wonderful!!!!!
